Our vision is of an Aotearoa New Zealand where everyone has the communication skills and tools they need to have great connections and relationships with others. Our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is woven through all of our work.
We want each and every person, group and system (from individual citizens, community groups, and hapū, to business, corporates, and government departments) to be able to have good conversations, communicate through conflict, and grow through their relationships. We also want them to be able to easily access professional support when they need it.
Reframe Aotearoa exists to help people, groups and systems get better at communication, connectedness and conflict transformation. We’re here to help build the capacity of Aotearoa New Zealand, wherever we are needed.
We hope to achieve this by collaboratively designing and sharing innovative, ethical solutions which respond to the problems and needs we learn about and are asked to help with. We do our best to make sure every piece of work we do grows the long-term capacity and sustainability of those involved - and helps contribute to build a society which works for all.
We focus on empowering individuals, organisations and communities to do as much as they can themselves - to learn, develop and grow with agency and autonomy. We believe in the capacity and potential of people - that we do best when we have meaningful control and input into our lives and decisions that affect us.
This means we will build capacity and skills first, and offer support second - like interventions and formal processes. If we provide a formal process (such as a facilitation or a mediation), we’ll build in elements and experiences which grow the capacity of the people participating in it.
We do this because we believe that people and collectives build their own capacity and resilience when they can constructively self-manage conflicts and communication issues. They become better able to learn from and respond to complex experiences. However, sometimes things do get too complex – and it’s really important to feel good about asking for help.
We also believe deeply in human-centred practices - that each person (and collective) knows their own world and experience better than anyone else. We’ll begin by listening to you, and then collaboratively design our work and approach with you - making sure all of our contributions (our time, energy and resources) are used as effectively as possible.
Tim designs, facilitates and leads processes and projects that support people, networks, partnerships and communities to transform how they communicate and connect.
He specialises in the stuff between us – how we are with each other – and working with complexity authentically and collaboratively. His work helps build individual and organisational capacity to shift relationships into new patterns, communication practices and ways of being.
Tim practices professionally across many areas – as a process designer, facilitator, mediator, professional supervisor, partnership specialist – and broadly as a consultant to local and central government, community groups, NGOs, and the private sector. He holds a Masters in Peace and Conflict Resolution and Advanced Mediation Accredition. Tim is a member of Resolution Institute NZ, Restorative Practices Aotearoa, and the Australian Clinical Supervisors Association.
The Reframe Aotearoa team grows and narrows dynamically in response to demand, need - and also to possibilities.
